Large-scale inspections of the observing of the Labour Code in wood processing and furniture manufacturing companies were launched on November 29, 2005 throughout Bulgaria. Inspection teams will check whether employees work in safe conditions, whether they are employed under labour contracts and whether overtime is remunerated. The observance of regulated yearly leave and regular salary pay will also be checked. A survey in Bulgaria showed that many of the work accidents in the industry occur due to the lack of precaution measures by both the employers and the employees and their failure to secure and use the necessary safety gear.
