Jul 06, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Cascades’ new ST Generation II is an opaque grade like never seen before. It replaces New Life Satin ST and sets a new benchmark for uncoated papers. Customers can expect an incredible printing and the low ink consumption of a coated paper — but in an uncoated grade. Cascades is able to achieve these characteristics through a special surface treatment it has now further improved. “We made quite an impression with our New Life Satin ST a few years ago,” remarks Cascades Fine Papers Group Marketing Director, Uncoated Paper Robert Boivin. “Now we’ve taken a giant step forward in the technology. The result is ST Generation II, with a feel that is really different from both coated and uncoated. I guess you have to experience it for yourself to appreciate why this opaque grade makes us so proud.” Not only the on-press performance of ST Generation II has been improved, with its new clarity and richness to colors, it also provides excellent folding characteristics and, as you’d expect from a surface treated paper, there is minimal dot gain. Still, it has a satiny smoothness, marking resistance and 92 brightness of uncoated Opaques. ST Generation II meets National Association of School Textbook Administrators (NASTA) criteria, making it an excellent choice for publishers. ST Generation II is available in a range of sizes and basis weights, along with a matching cover (same brightness and smoothness, but without the surface treatment). It contains 30% post-consumer fibre and is accredited EcoLogo. Cascades Fine Papers Group Inc. is a Canadian leader in fine paper manufacturing, with a century-long reputation for craftsmanship.
