Oct 05, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. All North River bathroom tissue, paper towels, paper napkins and wipers manufactured by Cascades Tissue Group have recently received the Green Seal certification. The North River brand has thus become the brand holding the broadest environmental certifications on the commercial and industrial tissue paper market.
Following PCF (Processed Chlorine Free) certification by the Chlorine Free Products Association, Eco-Logo (Environmental ChoiceM Program) certification and the endorsement by the Green Restaurant Association, Green Seal, an independent non profit-making organization located in the United States, has added its certification confirming that North River products meet the rigorous standards required for environmental protection. According to Green Seal, all North River™ products were manufactured to meet Green Seal's stringent standards, be it through optimal use of recycled fibres or post-consumer fibres or by using process chlorine free products.
"Green Seal is pleased to certify many Cascades Tissue Group product lines because of their large percentage of recycled content, their bleaching techniques that are processed chlorine free as well as their other ecological characteristics", said Arthur B. Weissman, Ph.D., President and CEO of Green Seal. "Products that have been certified and that sell under the North River trade name illustrate the leadership of the manufacturer with respect to the environment as well as its awareness of how important it is to manufacture paper products in an environmentally responsible way".
The President of Cascades Tissue Group, Suzanne Blanchet, made the following comments, "With more than 40 years of experience in recycling technology, our objective is to minimize the impact that the production of paper has on the environment and improve the process. It is through continuous research and innovation that we will reach our goal".
Above current standards in the industry, the North River product line was developed to illustrate that products can be very high quality as well as being well designed ecologically. Whether it is the minimal use of water, the use of recycled fibres that contain 100% post-consumer waste, the chlorine free process for bleaching or a decrease in energy consumption, the North River product line has established itself as a pioneer with regards to conservation of the environment in the pulp and paper industry.
