Chile's Arauco restarts some sawmill, plywood plants

Mar 17, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. Chile's Arauco, one of the world's largest pulp manufacturers, has restarted some sawmill and plywood plants damaged by a massive earthquake last month, parent company Copec COP.SN said, as Reuters agency informed Lesprom Network.
Arauco said in a statement it is still evaluating damage to five pulp plants that were shut down after the 8.8-magnitude quake and resulting tsunamis killed hundreds of people and destroyed roads, buildings and bridges.
The company said that four of its seven sawmill plants, four of its six manufacturing plants, two of four plywood factories and a power plant were back on stream.
