Feb 01, 2007. /Lesprom Network/. Wood shortage in Germany has contributed to an explosive increase in Danish prices of conifer in the last four to five months, Esmerk reported citing Niels-Jørgen Pedersen of HedeDanmark, a leading Danish forestry company. Forest owners get about 60% more for their wood today than one year ago and HedeDanmark has had to employ more hands to keep up with the rising demand for felling services.
The Danish forestry industry has suffered from low profitability for several years and the improved situation is said to be the rescue for some of the forest owners.
