Dr. Larry R. Faulkner elected to Temple-Inland Inc.'s board

Aug 08, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Temple-Inland Inc. has announced the election of Dr. Larry R. Faulkner to the company's board of directors. Dr. Faulkner, 60, is president of the University of Texas. Prior to becoming president at the University of Texas, he served as provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 1994-1998, and as professor of chemistry from 1984-1998. Dr. Faulkner is chair of the board of Trustees of the University Corporation for advanced internet development (Internet2), chair of the Association of American Universities Graduate Education committee, and a board member of Guaranty Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Temple-Inland.
Dr. Faulkner received a B.S. degree from Southern Methodist University in 1966 and was awarded a Ph.D. in chemistry in 1969 from the University of Texas at Austin.
With the election of Dr. Faulkner, Temple-Inland's Board consists of 12 members, a substantial majority of which are independent directors. The membership of all committees of the board consists entirely of independent directors.
