Jan 29, 2008. /Lesprom Network/. EUCATEX, one of the largest producers of hardboard and medium-density panels (MDP) in Brazil, informed that it is planning construction of a new Thin-High Density Fiberboard (T-HDF) and Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) plant. The plant will require investment of $130 million, 80% of which drawing on own funds, and will be installed in the city of Salto, situated in the inland region of Sao Paulo state, where EUCATEX already has two hardboard production lines and most of its infrastructure, such as equipment and finishing lines. The new plant will enable EUCATEX to add value to its hardboards and increase synergies between areas. The new line can also produce MDF and will be operational by the first half of 2009. The Thin-High Density Fiberboard (T-HDF) production technology was developed for applications requiring high mechanical resistance, such as the manufacture of flooring, doors and partitions. With this new line, EUCATEX, a long-term supplier of thin hardboard to furniture and other manufacturers, both in Brazil and abroad, will considerably increase penetration in its markets.
