EuroMaint Industry, the Swedish maintenance company, has signed an agreement with Billerud AB, the Swedish paper and pulp producer, for the conversion of one of the turbo generators at its Gruvön Mill in Grums, EuroMaint Industry said. This technically challenging conversion, which will ensure a long-term improvement in the reliability and service life of the steam turbine, is to be implemented on a tight schedule to minimise disruptions to electricity production at Billerud AB’s Gruvön Mill. One way of saving the huge cost of new investments and extending the service life of many of the aging turbo generators at Swedish paper mills is to convert them. The conversion work is to be carried out by EuroMaint’s component workshop in Åmål starting in February 2010.
