. European OSB producers increased imports in Japan 31% to 121.625 cub m in first 6 months of 2004 compared to the prior period in 2003. According to ITTO, the increase was initiated by the growth of OSB market in North America – North American producers reduced OSB imports to Japan.

The main European JAS-certified OSB suppliers to Japan are Egger, Kronotex (Germany) and Kronpol (Poland). OSB prices in North America run high, therefore European producers are more likely to increase imports.
