Jan 31, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. Industries EK indicates that the forest industry's domestic investments came to almost Euro 650 million in 2010, nearly a quarter more than in the previous year, as the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) said in a press release received by Lesprom Network.
Forest industry investments are expected to continue their rapid growth in 2011 and will likely approach Euro 900 million, which is close to the average level of the previous decade. The forest industry is expected to account for almost 20% of all manufacturing sector investments in 2011.
Half, i.e. some Euro 450 million, of this year's forest industry investments will focus on replacements to existing capacity, a third are rationalisation investments and a little over 10% will be allocated to increasing capacity.
In 2009, the overseas investments of Finnish forest industry companies were quite substantial, Euro 1.3 billion. Advance data for 2010 indicates that overseas investments decreased to a little over Euro 500 million.
