Jul 09, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. The latest national forest inventory in Finland indicates that the forest capital is still on the increase, Nordic Forest Owners' Association reported. According to the tenth national survey, the aggregate growing stock volume is now 2.2 billion cubic meters. Annual growth is 99.5 million cubic meters. The volume of Finnish forests is still increasing. The results of the recent tenth national forest inventory indicate that the total volume is 2.2 billion cubic meters, i.e. more than 100 million cubic meters more than the amount according to the preceding survey. The tenth inventory was made in 2004 - 2008 and the preceding one in 1996 - 2003. Forest growth has also accelerated. Annual growth is now 99.5 million cubic meters, in comparison with 86.7 million cubic meters in the preceding survey. During the 21st century annual drain has been circa 70% of total growth, which means that the growing stock volume is continuously increasing. The greatest annual sustainable felling of log timber and pulpwood in the years 2008 - 2017 is estimated to be about 70 million cubic meters. The corresponding volume is estimated to be more than 80 million cubic meters during the following decade.
