Jun 15, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. According to Russian Federation State Duma deputy Vladimir Krupchak, Forest Code of Russian Federation needs revision. “In Russia logging makes up only 18-20% of permitted cutting area, wood-processing industry growth is marginal, while lumber domestic market is growing rather dynamically”, V. Krupchak said during round-table discussion concerning problems of forest industry development that took place in St.-Petersburg, Russia. V. Krupchak supposes that logging enterprises become non-profitable due to permanent growth of natural monopolies rate. For example, only two of 30 timber mills of Arkhanguelsk region are profitable.
