Fortress Paper earns $2.3 million profit in 4Q

For 2007, the TSX-traded company generated net income of $5.3 million on sales of $145.3 million, Fortress announced.
The per share earnings were $0.22 for the 4Q 2007 and $0.76 for the full year. Year-earlier finances for the quarter and year-end were not provided since the company acquired its assets from Mercer International Inc. effective August 1, 2006.
Fortress Paper produces security and other specialty papers and operates two paper mills, the Landqart Mill in Switzerland and the Dresden Mill in Germany. The company's security papers include banknote, passport and visa papers and its specialty papers include non-woven wallpaper base products, and graphic and technical papers.
