Oct 15, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. The management of Hamburger Rieger has now taken the final decision to
substantially invest in the expansion of its top-quality white CCM production. With
a total investment of Euro 18 million, paper machine # 1 in Spremberg, Germany, will be converted
for the production of coated WTTestliner (containerboard). The conversion of
this machine will be carried out towards the end of 2014, with a start-up (and
the ability to produce coated testliners in Spremberg) at the beginning of 2015,
as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
As a result this conversion will allow the production of coated
testliners in widths up to 280 cm. Hamburger
Rieger’s second plant in Trostberg, Germany, will continue to
expand the production of specialized coated papers, especially for preprint.
The investment is part of the strategy of Hamburger Containerboard to
expand its total production potential in the white market (white top testliner
coated and uncoated) in the medium-term from the current 450,000 tons to 750,000
tons.
Hamburger Containerboard is a division of the Austrian Prinzhorn
Holding. With a total annual production capacity of 1.7 million tonnes of
containerboard, Hamburger Containerboard ranks among the market leaders in this
market in Europe.
