International Forest Products Limited announced on March 30 that it has completed the sale of TFL 54, a small tenure (66 759 cubic meters AAC) located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. The tenure was sold to Ma-Mook Natural Resources Ltd. a company owned in part by a group of five First Nations based in Ucluelet, British Columbia. The transaction included a market-based log supply agreement. This sale is consistent with Interfor’s strategy to focus on its core manufacturing operations and puts the timber resource management and harvesting activities under the control of the local First Nations. International Forest Products Limited (Interfor), with sales of more than $800 million is one of the Pacific Northwest's largest producers of quality wood products for sale to markets around the world. The company has operations in British Columbia, Washington and Oregon, including three operating sawmills in the Coastal region of B.C., one in the B.C. Interior, one sawmill in Washington and two in Oregon. Interfor also operates a number of value-added remanufacturing and specialty products facilities in B.C. and Washington. These operations have a combined manufacturing capacity of 1.4 billion board feet and employ 2 000 people.
