Jan., 26/Lesprom Network/. Russian Lesosibirsky timber-processing enterprise N1 received FSC (Forest Stewardship council) certificate that confirms the compliance with the international requirements. 132 thousand hectares in Motygino district, Krasnoyarsk region were certified, WWF Russia reported. In summer 2004 Lesosibirsky-1 entered the Association of environment-conscious timber industrialists of Russia. The enterprise has worked out and is carrying out own environmental and social policies. The enterprise performs advance timber procession and uses chips as raw material for hardboard production, while bark and sawdust are used as fuel for the heating station located on the premises. The audit was carried out by SGS with the participance of local experts. The pre-audit preparation was carried out by Siberian center of certification. The audit was accomplished in October 2004.
