As part of his duties in paper manufacturing and sourcing, Newell will continue to serve as General Manager of LDI’s Liberty Paper mill in Becker, Minnesota. The mill manufactures 100% recycled papers for packaging from more than 400 million pounds of old corrugated containers each year.
“Our paper business has steadily grown under Larry’s leadership, and this promotion reflects our continued commitment to lead our industry in paper production from recycled material,” said Dan Zdon, LDI President and Chief Operating Officer.
Newell, a 20-year veteran of LDI, spearheaded the 2012 design and construction of a $15 million water pre-treatment project at the Becker facility, a cooperative effort among Liberty Paper, the City of Becker, Sherburne County, the St. Paul Port Authority, Xcel Energy and the Initiative Foundation, a regional resource for job creation and economic development.
