Jan 12, 2009. /Lesprom.com/. M&M Timber has recorded a 40% increase in December sales and expects turnover for the year to hit a record high of GBP 6 million ($9 million), Lesprom Network informed according to the Gleebirmingham. The company put its downturn-defying growth down to investment in new materials and technology, particularly the launch last year of its Micronized Preserved Timber range. M&M Timber managing director Nigel Poyner said: "There’s no doubt the current economic climate will present us all with challenges, but we have to be prepared for the future and despite the uncertainties we have continued with our long-term investment programme. "Judging by the December sales success, the newly launched MicroPro treated products are without doubt going to prove a major influence on our future market gains." The company has invested GBP 200,000 (approx. $ 300,000) in installing timber drying kilns and sanding equipment for the treated wood at its plant in Worchester and has expanded its sales and new business development team. Micronized Preserved Timber uses a copper preservative treatment developed by Osmose to extend the life of garden and landscaping timber products. M&M Timber claims the treatment can extend lifetimes by up to 15 years.
