May 13, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. This year‘s Ligna+ got off to an excellent start for Siempelkamp Maschinen- und Anlagenbau.
Right at the start of the trade fair on May 2, a contract was signed with Giriu Bizonas from Lithuania for the delivery of a complete particleboard plant. As the general contractor, Siempelkamp will be supplying all the components for the plant, from the timber yard through to the packaging of the boards, and putting them all into operation.
This contract was won by tender against international competition. The main reasons for selecting Siempelkamp, said Sigitas Paulauskas, President of Giriu Bizonas, are the plant’s low costs of production and the references for a fast ramp-up curve when starting up for the first time (e.g. Dare, Starwood, Unilin, etc.).
PAL and IMAL will be responsible for the components for the chip preparation and the gluing, and Bьttner for the drier, sifter and exhaust gas cleaning.
The forming and pressing line will be supplied from Krefeld, although CMC will be responsible for the mat formers.
The core of the plant is an 8‘ x 38 m long ContiRoll® press which will produce 1,400 mіllion of particleboard per day.
All machines downstream of the press will be supplied by Siempelkamp Handlingsysteme, namely the cooling and stacking/destacking unit, storage system, sanding line and sizing saws.
The plant is to be installed in Kaslu Ruda in Lithuania and is planned to go into operation in the spring of 2006.
Lithuania has a growing timber industry and a tradition of close ties to Central Europe. Giriu Bizonas already has two particleboard lines among its production facilities, as well as a production line for furniture parts which it supplies to customers such as Ikea.
