Jul 10, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Mellanskog, Sweden’s association of forest owners, announced price increase for pine and spruce sawlogs by SEK 25 / m3 to the range from 18 cm diameter and thicker. The new prices are valid for autumn contracting in Orebro, Sodermanland, Vastmanland, Uppsala, Stockholm and Gavleborg and Harjedalen. For Dalarna, Varmland and Gotland autumn prices is not yet clear, said association in announcement.Pulpwood prices were left unchanged until further notice.‘It's important that our members can take advantage of the strong demand for timber that exists right now, says Mellanskog CEO Sture Karlsson. Sawmill activity is still uncertain, but profitability is affected by the Swedish krona and the benefits right now Swedish exports’.With its 32,000 members in central Sweden, Mellanskog is the nation’s second-biggest association of forest owners. Together its members own more than 1.7 million hectares of forestland.
