Oct 23, 2014. /Lesprom Network/.   Metsä Wood, Metsä Group's wood products business area, initiates a performance improvement programme, which comprises sales growth projects, cost savings and structural changes, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

As part of the programme, the need for personnel reduction has been estimated to be approximately 200 man-years in total, of which 140 would take place in Finland.

The reductions in personnel are planned to be implemented in stages over the next two years. Reductions in production personnel are projected to materialise mainly through retirements.

Metsä Wood provides wood products for construction, industry and distributor partners. Metsä Wood’s sales were Euro 897 million in 2013. Metsä Wood is part of Metsä Group.
