Metso to supply digesters to Zellstoff Stendal pulp mill in Germany

The target of Zellstoff Stendal is to improve process flexibility and increase production. The value of the order is approximately Euro 6 million. The delivery will be completed by the end of 2005.

The target of Zellstoff Stendal is to improve process flexibility and increase production. The value of the order is approximately Euro 6 million. The delivery will be completed by the end of 2005.
Metso Paper's delivery will comprise two SuperBatch digesters. The expansion of the cooking process will increase flexibility in producing special pulp qualities and in using varying wood raw material. When needed, the expansion also enables the mill to increase its annual production from the current 550,000 tonnes.
Metso Paper supplied the entire pulping process, started up in 2004, from wood handling up to finished pulp bales to the Zellstoff Stendal mill.
RWE Industrie-Losungen GmbH, Germany, will execute the expansion project. Mercer International Inc., the main owner of the Zellstoff Stendal pulp mill, is among the largest bleached softwood market pulp suppliers in the world.
