Both Boyle and Whitecourt were recertified to the ISO 14001 standard, which assesses an organization's Environmental Management System. As well, Boyle was successfully recertified under FORESTCARE, the Alberta forest industry's code of conduct for care of the forest, environment, and communities.
In December, Whitecourt also passed the first annual surveillance audit for its CSA-Z809 sustainable forest management certification, hard on the heels of achieving certification to the PEFC Chain of Custody program.
Millar Western has been active in the forest products industry for close to a century, growing steadily to become one of Western Canada's largest privately-owned forest products companies. Millar Western's forest products operations are located in Whitecourt and Boyle, Alberta.
