Aug 08, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. NewPage Corp. expects to pay out $25 million for employee severance and related benefit costs, plus exit costs of $5 million as part of its shutdown of its Kimberly paper mill, Postcrescent.com reported.
The company also expects to incur up to $10 million in charges for the write-off of inventory in the 3Q 2008, which it will take as a non-cash charge.
The Miamisburg, Ohio-based firm, which employed about 600 people, will shut down two remaining paper machines by August 25, 2008 in a closure the company blamed on slipping demand, soaring operating costs and lack of an on-site pulping plant.
