May 21, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Oregon Department of Forestry is making job cuts in response to dramatic reductions in timber revenues, as Timber Trades Journal informed Lesprom Network. Timber sales for 2007-2009 are down by 20% on the period from 2005-2007, and the latest revenue forecast for 2009-2011 projects a decline of more than 40%. State forester Marvin Brown said the department has had to tap into its Forest Development Fund – essentially its savings – despite implementing cost reductions earlier this year.
