May 19, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. Papyrus Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG has recently joined the WWF Wood Group, the German branch of the ‘Global Forest and Trade Network’ (GFTN). Within the next three years the company’s goal will be geared towards increasing its share of FSC certified papers in its overall volume, Papyrus said in a statement received by Lesprom Network. “By taking this step, a real papertrade giant is living up to its responsibility for the worldwide protection of the Earth’s forests – this will have a signal effect for the whole paper market,” says Johannes Zahnen, WWF Germany’s paper expert. “This will improve the offer of environmentally friendly papers all over the German marketplace.” “To us, our recent GFTN membership stands for a major step towards a comprehensive environmental management system,” comments Boris Borensztein, General Manager of Papyrus Germany. “As a leading paper wholesaler we want to contribute to sustainable forest management and rule out procurement sources that we consider risky or about which we do not have sufficient or reliable information.” Papyrus is Germany’s second biggest paper wholesaler and ranks among the top enterprises operating in the German paper industry.
