Russian Krasnoyarsk railways (affiliated to Russian Railways) stopped the loading of round sawn timber to universal platforms in line with the order signed by the vice-president of Russian Railways Hasyan Zyabirov on July, 6 2004. ‘The step was taken in order to create additional loading facilities for coal and ore transportation. Beginning from July, 10 the loading of timber cargo to railway cars was prohibites’, Krasnoyarsk railways spokesperson told Lesprom.ru. As Lesprom.ru reported earlier, Vologda regional timber merchants intended to send a letter to Russian Railways president Gennadi Fadeev asking him to take under control the problems concerning timber transportation linked to the order signed by Zyabirov. On July, 21 Krasnoyarsk railways resumed the loading of timber into the cars.
