Jan 15, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. Russian Nemansky pulp and paper mill (Kaliningrad region, owned by North-West Timber Industry Company) is preparing to launch paper machine-8 (BDM-8).
Nemansky will launch the production of subparchment, most popular special paper type produced by North-West Timber Industry Company enterprises. BDM-8 launch is scheduled for February 2004. ‘We will succeed in elevating BDM-8 efficiency’ company’s deputy CEO Alexander Kochnev said. ‘BDM-8 planned capacity was 8000 thousand tons of paper/yr when it was designed by Dnepropetrovskmash plant. After the reconstruction production capacity increased to 10000 tons/yr.
The enterprise is owned by North-West Timber Industry Company since 1999, the enterprise was acquired after a three years idle time. 5 paper machine were launched within a week (BDM 1,3,4,5,7). The launch of BDM-6 was not economically efficient. The reconstruction of BDM-8 was not performed then, because the market demand for subparchment was rather low at the time.
BDM-8 reconstruction started in late 2002. Canadian Sandwell company that designed Nemansky reconstruction plan, acknowledged that subparchment production was a priority objective. Today Nemansky exports production to Czech Republic, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Poland, South Africa, China, Vietnam and other countries. 7000 tons/yr of subparchment are actually produced by Nemansky BDM-7 machine.
