Dec 18, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. From the end of January, SCA Logistics' RoRo service will call at the Port of Oxelösund on a weekly basis. The result will be a new and efficient service for containers and RoRo freight from London and Rotterdam to the Stockholm-Mälaren Region and south-eastern Sweden. At the same time, SCA Logistics is expanding the capacity of its container traffic between Rotterdam and St. Petersburg, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

"The flow of goods to southern Sweden and Russia is growing and we have therefore decided to modify our routes to increase capacity and services to both regions," says Magnus Svensson, President of SCA Logistics.

SCA's RoRo service calls two times a week to ports in London, Rotterdam, Sundsvall, Husum and Umeå. The service calls once weekly to Helsingsborg and now another weekly call to Oxelösund will be added.

"Our RoRo vessels can efficiently transport container goods as well as other types of freight. Our cassette system ensures an extremely fast loading and unloading process," says Magnus Svensson.

The RoRo vessel will replace the former container service to the Stockholm port, thus enabling an expansion of traffic capacity to St. Petersburg.

"Sailing directly from Rotterdam to St. Petersburg increases our container capacity to St. Petersburg and the Russian market. We have noted a steady rise in the flow of container goods to St. Petersburg and, on this basis, we have decided to adjust our service to include a direct route for container freight from Rotterdam to St. Petersburg, which also reduces the lead time," concludes Magnus Svensson.

SCA Logistics is part of SCA’s Forest Products business unit, which produces paper for packaging and print, pulp, solid-wood products and renewable energy.
