Sep 11, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. SFM has joined forces with state’s peak farming body to help landowners gain ownership of private forest plantations on their land, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

SFM has linked with Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) to work through opportunities proposed by the Liquidator of Gunns atameeting hosted by TFGA in July.

SFMManagingDirector Andrew Morgan said there are steps landowners can follow to gain ownership of trees on their land.

“These steps do not recognise the need for further legal and accounting advice for individuals,” Mr Morgan said.

Landowners, he said, need to understand the value and ongoing management cost of their plantation.

“Landowners areofferedfree no obligation advice ontheirplantation, including ongoing management costs and market options.”

TFGA chief Jan Davis said they are in discussions with the State Government trying to get assistance regarding removing the forestry right.

SFM and TFGA have released a joint letter this week to landowners outlining details of assistance on offer.
