The investment will give Mörrum a new, more efficient screening system based on slots screening rather than open-hole screens, which were used in the old primary screening process. The new equipment includes a separate, two-stage knot screening process, followed by three-stage fine screening. Capacity to separate sand and particles with a low density (plastic) will increase as a result. And the upgrade will provide greater opportunities for returning fibre rejects to the digesters.
More efficient screening results will provide better conditions for subsequent washing stages on the fibre line, and improve the separation of undesirable particles and contamination early in the process. At the same time, the upgrade will contribute to more efficient and effective washing results, as well as lower chemical use.
