The government of Serbia's northern province of Vojvodina has assigned 15 million Serbian dinars ($202 000) to the country's forestry sector to finance an afforestation project, Vojvodina's agriculture secretary Daniel Petrovic said. The government plans to cover with forest 141.73 hectares of land with the state subsidy in the municipalities of Senta, Ada and Titel, all in Voivodina, Mr. Petrovic added. The tree-planting will be carried out by state-owned company Vojvodinasume, national park Fruska Gora and local water utilities DTD Senta, VDP Zapadna Backa, VP Dunav, JVP Vode Vojvodine and VDP Sajkaska. A total 152 800 trees for planting have already been bought, Mr. Petrovic said.
