Apr 18, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Spanish paper and cardboard company Papeles y Cartones de Europa SA (Europac) will raise the kraftliner prices by Euro 50 ($61.3) per tonne from May 1, 2006, the company informed the Spanish stock market regulator CNMV on April 17, 2006, EP agency reported.
The price hike is mainly due to low kraftliner stocks and increasing demand on the European market. Average kraftliner stocks in Europe decreased by 9.0% year-on-year in January and February 2006, according to data of the European Containerboard Organisation. The Europac move follows similar kraftliner price hikes on October 1, 2005 and January 1, 2006.
Kraftliner sales represented 34.1% of Europac's turnover in 2005.
Europac targets its annual capacity to reach 300,000 tonnes of kraftliner by the end of 2006.
