Apr 08, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Swedish Forest Agency conducts annual survey by questionnaire on the production of seedlings for use in Sweden. According to the latest survey some 369 million seedlings were delivered in 2014. A decline by 3% compared with the year 2013.

The most common tree species are Norway spruce, which represents 54% of production. Scots pine accounts for 40% of the production while other species production accounts of 6%. Since 2011, Pinus contorta and birch are reported separately and accounted for three respective 0.4% in 2014.

Rooted planting material (86%) is the dominant method of production. Bare-rooted is 13% while the remaining production accounts for 1%. Most of the origin of seedlings comes from the Swedish plantations or Swedish stand, totally accounting for 89%.
