Apr 13, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Swedish hygiene products group SCA Personal Care will lay off about 150 full-time employees in Hoogezand, northern Netherlands. The job cuts will be due to the fact that the company plans to invest in production facilities in Poland and North America, where labour costs are lower. Moreover, a significant part of the market for SCA's products is located outside western Europe. The company will give more details on the restructuring at the end of April 2005. The plant in Hoogezand currently employs 950. Dutch trade union FNV Bondgenoten has expressed fears that the company might lay off a total 380 employees. SCA Personal Care is the world's largest provider of incontinence care products. The company employs 4,500 in 25 countries. It generated a 1.6 bln euro ($2.07 bln) turnover in 2004.
