Three deputies of the ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD) for Neamt county, northeastern Romania, said they would give up their management positions in a number of companies, it was reported on February 7, 2003. Culita Tarata will withdraw as director general of farming company TCE Trei Brazi, of wine maker Compil Impex and of Petroforest, which specialises in forest management. The deputy is also owner of the companies. Another deputy, Iulian Tocu, would give up his place in the Board of Directors of agricultural equipment producer Mecanica Ceahlau and trading company Comat Piatra Neamt. Deputy Ioan Bivolaru would give up his position in the Board of Directors of wood processing company Starforest Targu Neamt. Romanian President Ion Iliescu asked PSD representatives on February 4, 2003 to give up their management positions due to a non-compliance between the two functions, of politician and business manager.
