Dow Jones & Company, publishers of The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and the Ottaway Newspaper group announced that Kruger Inc, is winner of their Gold Award for an unprecedented eighth consecutive year. The Dow Jones Quality Awards are determined using a quality rating system that uses objective measures of paper optical properties, runability and service levels to provide feedback on the quality of sheet performance and overall support services of each of the supplying mills that directly impact Dow Jones’ ability to achieve their business objectives. The Wall Street Journal, which was founded in 1889, has a circulation of approximately 2.1 million copies. The Ottaway Newspaper group owns and operates 15 daily and 18 weekly newspapers.
Knight Ridder Inc. also honored the Kruger organization by announcing that the Corner Brook mill will be presented with the 2005 Knight Ridder Supplier Excellence Award. Each of the Knight Ridder newspapers evaluated their supplying mills based upon the quality of the products supplied as well as the level of service provided. Corner Brook Pulp and Paper received the highest overall mark out of the twenty four mills evaluated. A giant in newspaper and Internet publishing, Knight Ridder publishes 32 daily newspapers in the United States with 8.1 million readers daily and 11.5 million on Sunday. The company also publishes more than sixty other non-daily newspapers, shoppers and special publications.
Gannett Supply awarded Kruger the title of Supplier of the Year for its excellent performance in 2005. This marks the 16th time in the 25-year history of the award that Kruger has been the recipient.
