Timber consumption in Austria down 3.4% Y/Y 2004
Apr 13, 2005. Austrian timber consumption fell 3.4% year-on-year to 16.48 million solid cubic meters in 2004, excluding rind, bugt remained was 9.7% above the five-year average and 12.3% above the ten-year average, the Austrian ministry of agriculture said on April 12, 2005.

The volume of damaged timber used by the Austrian wood processing industry stood at 5.6 million cubic meters in 2004, down by 32.5% year-on-year from a record high in 2003.
The volume of timber produced in small forests rose by 5.3% year-on-year.
Unlike crude oil and natural gas the firewood prices remained stable at 43.07 euro ($55.91) a cubic meter of hard firewood and 27.49 euro ($35.7) a cubic meter of soft firewood.
