Mar 29, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. In 2002, the PM 5 machine in Marsberg-Giershagen (Westfalen) was substantially rebuilt by Toscotec into a crescent former in only 18 days from paper to paper. Toscotec will complete the rebuilding of the PM 5 bringing the machine speed up to 1700 m/min for regular and supersoft products. The modification will mainly be focused on the drying section. Thanks to the experience in manufacturing steel drying cylinders for paper production, Toscotec R&D has developed a new line of Yankee Dryers manufactured in carbon steel since 2000. The most innovative product in the drying section for tissue today. The Steel Yankee Dryer for Wepa PM 5 is the first 15 foot Steel Yankee ever manufactured and it is designed to operate at 120 KN/m linear nip load pressure and max 10 bar steam pressure. The rebuilding also includes a large diameter suction press roll (Ц1430mm) to obtain high quality product with different thickness and softness. It is designed to operate at 120 KN/m linear nip load pressure increasing significantly the dryness capacity of the machine. Furthermore, a MILLTECH high performance drying system will be part of this supply. Its high efficiency at continuous high temperature corresponds to an improved softness and bulk. The whole dryness system operates safely below maximum design and, as an important link, extends the service life of a Yankee. The planned high drying capacity machine allows a large product range and flexibility in different manufacturing conditions and, above all, operating cost savings in gas, steam, electricity, Yankee coating and doctor blades. For more than 50 years WEPA Papierfabrik P. Krengel G.m.b.H. & CO has been producing hygiene paper becoming one of the most important European tissue producers, particularly focused on the private label market and recognized for its waste paper products which have been synonymous of quality during the years.
