Oct 08, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. VIDA Group is raising log prices by 100 SEK ($14.3) per cubic metre and is establishing a sales office in Holland. The price increase includes FSC and PEFC-certified logs, TT reported. “As we close our terminal storage, we need to increase our supply of fresh wood,” said VIDA CEO Santhe Dahl. “We do not believe in any quick recovery of the construction market but we have in recent years built up a solid customer portfolio that we intend to maintain. This means that we will continue to produce at a sustained pace.” VIDA Group consumes about 1.8 million cubic metres per year. Meanwhile, the company said its decision to open a sales office near Amsterdam was in preparation for when the economy picks up. It said sales in the Dutch and Belgian markets had not dropped significantly despite the recession.
