Jun 27, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Voith reports that a recent order from a mill in South Germany represents the twelfth intermediate consistency (IC) screening plant the company has booked. This process stage developed by Voith has achieved firm acceptance on the market and with good reason. IC screening is used in recycled fiber systems where demands on the end product quality are very high. The ingoing flow consistencies generally range between 2.0 and 2.5 %, i.e. between MC and LC consistency, hence the name intermediate consistency.
Since this stock consistency is higher than in traditional fine screening systems, pumping volumes are lower, making the concept economically interesting due to reduced investment and operating costs.
In addition, IC screening in combination with hole and fine screening considerably improves stock characteristics, particularly as regards sticky content. Since introduction of EcoMizer cleaner technology, slotted screen basket wear is no longer an issue since EcoMizer heavyweight cleaning operates reliably and efficiently in this intermediate stock consistency range.
With this twelfth plant the present total production handled by Voith IC screening systems increases to an annual 2.6 million tons.
