Corrugated materials manufacturer Georgia-Pacific announced that its facility in Chicago has fulfilled the requirements of the International Consolidated Standards for Food Contact Packaging from the American Institute of Baking (AIB). This means that Georgia-Pacific’s Chicago facility has been deemed to be safe for the manufacture of packaging that may come into contact with food. The Georgia-Pacific facility received the recognition after its February 2012 inspection, joining the more than 15 other Georgia-Pacific Packaging facilities throughout North America that have met these criteria. “Safety and customer focus are part of our DNA and everything we do,” Robert Frazier, quality manager at Georgia-Pacific Packaging, said in a statement. “We understand the important role our packaging plays in the safety and quality of our customers’ products. We have worked hard to achieve this goal as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.
