. In January-September 2007 sawnwood export from Irkutsk region of Russia rose 25% year-on-year to 1.4 million tonnes.
Oct 31, 2007. /Lesprom Network/. In January-September 2007 sawnwood export from Irkutsk region of Russia rose 25% year-on-year to 1.4 million tonnes, deputy head of regional forest industry administration Victor Dolgov said at the meeting of regional council, administration reported.
Dolgov said that according to the information of Irkutsk and Bratsk customs, in first nine months of 2007 export of processed lumber rose 126% to 1.9 million cubic meters.
Sawnwood production in the region in January-September 2007 increased 34% to 2.8 million cubic neters. According to Dolgov, sawnwood production is today the most dynamic sector of forest industry in Priangarje. The growth also can be seen in pulp production, fibreboard production and others. Turnover of forest complex in January-September 2007 was RUR 37.7 million.
“At present the structure of wood utilization has changed. In January-September 2006 about 65% of logged wood was processed while in 2007 this figure rose to 78%”, Dolgov said.
