The inauguration ceremony was attended by the chiefs of major Chinese pulp and paper enterprises and Ilim Pulp top-management. ‘The opening of the new office is another testimony of the company’s regional development strategy in the Chinese provinces’ Ilim Pulp business director Nikita Leonov said Ilim Pulp is a major supplier of pulp and paper products to the Chinese market. The company accounts for 21% of bleached softwood pulp imports to China, 7% of hardwood bleached pulp, kraft-liner – 17% and 11% of non-bleached pulp. In 2003 Ilim Pulp supplied 850 thousand tons of pulp and paper products to the Chinese market. Pulp consumption growth reached 10% in Asia (+31% worldwide on average)
