Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation announced on Friday, June 16 that more than 40 of the company’s manufacturing facilities received a no lost-workday award from the Pulp & Paper Safety Association (PPSA). The award recognizes the facility for completing a calendar year without incurring an injury resulting in days away from work. The award was presented to facility management during the organization’s annual safety & health conference held this week in Orlando. “We believe that all injuries are preventable,” said Smurfit-Stone Corporate manager, safety and health Frank Cordier. “Our employees should be very proud of their safety performance and the recognition of this award for our facility.” The PPSA is one of the industry’s leading authorities on safety practices and is devoted to the reduction of injury and the continuous improvement of safety throughout all aspects of the pulp, paper, converting, recycle and forest products industry.
