Jan 12, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. The Newark Group has announced a $40 per ton price increase on all coated grades of recycled paperboard, effective with shipments on or after February 1. "Continuing cost pressures, compounded by increasing recovered fiber pricing, outstrip our ability to lower costs through savings initiatives, productivity increases and high-cost facility closures," said Raymond M. Vargo Jr., vice president of sales for Newark Paperboard Mills. "We must now pass these higher costs on through the supply chain," he added. The Newark Group is an integrated global producer of 100% recycled paperboard and paperboard products with significant manufacturing and marketing operations in North America and Europe.
