Feb 18, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. James Jones’ subsidiary, Unit Pallets, is the first pallet business in
the UK to be accredited
to the new Timcon ‘premium’ drying standard for timber pallets. The premium
standard guarantees that the pallets are air dried, under cover, for a minimum
of 14 days and that the supplier is achieving 95%+ conformity, as the company
said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
The new standards have been drawn up after a research programme into pallet
wood drying and the avoidance of mould and staining, carried out by NapierUniversity on behalf of
Timcon.
Gil Covey, Managing Director of Unit Pallets, commented: “This new
standard is a major step forward for the timber pallet sector and Unit staff
were very much involved in conducting studies on drying batches of new pallets
at UPL’s Golborne factory. In all, over 15,000 moisture content readings were
taken during the study!”
Unit Pallets Limited operates from a 10 acre site in Golborne, Warrington, manufacturing
high quality new and repaired pallets and with extensive heat treatment and
kiln drying capacity.
