Aug 31, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. AB Rundvirke in Marmaverken not far from Söderhamn invests more than Eur 12 million in a totally new sawmill. AB Rundvirke has ordered from Söderhamn Eriksson the sawing equipment to be delivered, installed and started up during the first half of year 2010, Söderhamn reported.
This investment will mean a radical shift in technology from today’s frame saw with a separate re-sawing line to a state-of-the-art bandsaw line with integrated re-sawing. The new sawmill will feature the very latest technology with full optimization and automated sawing and re-sawing lines.
”The production rate will become three to four times higher than for today’s plant. Furthermore, recovery-enhancing techniques such as three-dimensional log scanning, individual optimization of each piece of wood, curve-sawing and thinner saw kerfs will result in far greater yield,” says Lars Lindvall, vice president of Söderhamn Eriksson. ”Recovery and yield are key factors for success, as the raw material consists of the finest logs that have to be utilized in an optimum way”.
The other suppliers chosen by Rundvirke are from the same region: Gösta Hedlund AB in Alfta for the log intake, and Almab AB in Storvik for green sorting and stacking. ”This is one of the largest industrial investments in our region this year. All suppliers are happy that Rundvirke has ordered first-class equipment from local suppliers”, says Lars Lindvall.
