Aug 30, 2012. /Lesprom Network/. The first high-capacity plant for Accoya modified wood to be built under a strategic licence agreement is expected to become operational by the end of 2014, as TTJ reported.
Accoya developer Accsys Technologies confirmed the 15-year production deal with chemical giant Rhodia Acetow, which will be fully effective in the second half of 2013.
The company will have exclusive rights to sell in 40 European countries and build production plants. The first factory will have a capacity of 63,000 cubic metres and help drive greater market penetration, the two companies said.
“We are delighted with this licence agreement that will allow us to build on our acetylation know-how in the field of cellulose acetate," said Rhodia Acetow president Gérard Collette.
Accsys has also signed a deal with INEOS Industries for a joint venture involving MDF, chipboard and wood-plastic composites, and with an unnamed Latin American board manufacturer.
