Australian paper company buys Love Box Co. for undisclosed sum

Dec 02, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Kansas-based Love Box Co., which employs 13 people at a distribution center at 3330 Centennial, announced it has been sold to Pratt Industries. The company will continue to operate as Love Box, said Ray Dorsett, manager of marketing, media and communications with Love Box.
No immediate changes were anticipated, he said. Employees were informed that "nothing will happen" to their salaries or their benefits, Mr. Dorsett said.
Pratt Industries, whose U.S. headquarters are in Conyers, Georgia, will become the largest paper and packaging company in the nation after the purchase of Love Box. It is the North American subsidiary of Pratt Industries, Melbourne, Australia.
The purchase price was not disclosed.
Love Box and Pratt Industries both are privately held family businesses, Mr. Dorsett said. The deal will nearly double Pratt Industries' American market presence from 35 plants to 60, and its work force from 2 000 to 3 400. Combined, the companies have more than 7 000 customers.
Love Box Co. employs 1 500 across the Midwest and South, including 550 in Wichita.
Lox Box Co. employed 46 in Salina as recently as January 2003.
